Ease the Pain: a World of Hek novel

As a child, young Jack Nelson wished to be just like his daddy. Little did he expect a demon named Hek, a god amongst men, to have been secretly working for years to make sure that Jack's wish came true.

Five years ago, Captain Jack Nelson shot and killed his partner to save thousands of lives. The pain that this action, amongst countless other violent acts committed by the captain, forced him to retire from service.

He is now being called back to defend his country from those who would challenge the president. He must also save his loved ones from his own secretive military team, and to cure his drug addiction with experimental pills explicitly created for him. Such problems would be enough for any normal person, but the captain must also navigate his way through life with a new girlfriend named Mercy, a psychotic fallen angel with multiple personality disorder called Grace, and a being christened Hek, with a seemingly endless amount of power and a penchant for granting wishes.

Now back in the game, Captain Nelson's insides are tearing him up as he delves back into a horrific world of assassinations and violence. With a goal of retiring once the missions are complete and moving in with Mercy, he soon finds that Grace would have him for herself and punish Mercy for trying to steal him away from her. With demons and violence at every turn, Jack may have to rely on the help of some other beings he always thought fictional: vampires!
