The Dune worldbuilding is some of the most intriguing and in depths worldbuilding out there, together with a plot filled with interesting political and philosophical plot points, making this a must read (in my opinion) for sci-fi or fantasy readers in general. The novel is very well written, though the dialog is written in very flowery language to the point where it doesn’t feel like person to person interactions. This can be a negative for some people (me included) though I know this is not the case for everyone. The romantic sub-plot also feels like it gets rushed and doesn’t get enough build up and proper development. Some of the abilities(keeping it vague to avoid spoilers) also feels a bit to convenient at times and ended up towards the end of the book feeling a bit like a narrative device, created to keeping the plot moving.

Et must til alle sci fi elskere, denne bog skal stå på hylden og gør jer selv den tjeneste læse bogen og resten af serien på Engelsk. Ved første blik for de ikke indvidede af denne sci fi klassiker kan den være meget overvældende, men tøv aldrig med at læse videre da der findes masser af mysticisme og intriger der maler det store billede i dette sci fi universe der er fjern, men på samme tid velkendt.

Meget velskrevet - Massere af terminologi som i starten kan være overvældende, men når man er kommet ind i universet, tager bogen fart og man lever sig ind i historien.

Dune er bogen der ændrede science fiction på bogform. Før Dune var science fiction ofte korte fortællinger, da forlagene mente at folk ikke gad læse sci-fi på romanform. Kort fortalt handler den om House Atreides der skal overtage kontrollen med den vigtigste planet i universet, og kampen om at forsvare sig mod ærkefjenden fra House Harkonnen. Computere er blevet banlyst efter en stor krig mod tænkende maskiner. Et fantastisk filosofisk og psykologisk værk der i fin stil blander middelalderskikke med moderne teknologi. Den kan godt være tung at komme igennem, men den er hvert et minut man læser den værd.
