Grounded in the social media reality in which we all find ourselves, content creator Chase Matthews only sees the numbers. he's desperate to set himself apart from the droves of other creators. One day he stumbles on a small creator's video called the "Deep Web Challenge." Thinking he can replicate that, but get even more views, he decides to push the limits even further as he attempts to reach the dark web. He assumes he'll find some weird fetish sites, or a site to hire a hitman or something. However, he stumbles into the back door of one of the darkest places on the internet, a Red Room. People pay in bitcoin to have their say in how captives are tortured and killed live on air. Disgusted, Chase makes the mistake of confronting all of the sickos chatting on the site. The eye of The Dealers who run the operation lands on him.

Chase must confront this cult of hackers while trying to protect those he loves. Every bit of private information is put out in the open, and his fans don't seem to care. They just want his attention. After all, they own him don't they? The Dealers turn technology against Chase at every turn. Under a microscope Chase feels his sanity devolving into unfettered paranoia. He must team up with an unlikely ally to finally bring down the cult. But like many online trends, they never really die, they just hide for a while until the right time to step back into the spotlight.
