Diseases and Pests of Fibre Crops

This book provides extensive information on the diseases and pests that afflict fibre crops and cause economic loss. It covers the major types of damage caused by diseases and pests in fibre crop cultivation, and offers methods for combating them. The book describes the diseases and pests in detail, focusing on the morphological and molecular characteristics of the pathogens and the biology of the different insect pests. The most current and up-to-date knowledge on these topics, which has been gathered from diverse, contemporary scientific discoveries in the field of fibre crop diseases and pests, is compiled and presented in this book.

The book is composed of eight main chapters, each of which covers a specific type of fibre crop, with the exception of chapter two, which deals with both Mesta (kenaf) and Roselle, as they are subject to similar disease and insect pest attacks. Each chapter is further divided into two or three subchapters, depending on the number of diseases and pests being discussed. This book is designed as a textbook reference for undergraduate, postgraduate, and research personnel, providing them with a means to gain a deeper understanding of the diseases and pests that affect nine major fibre crops, including cotton, jute, kenaf, roselle, sunnhemp, sisal, ramie, flax, and hemp.
