English summary: The double-election of the Staufen Philipp of Swabia and the Welf Otto IV in 1198 marked the beginning of one of the worst political crises of the High Middle Ages, which ultimately affected the whole of the Holy Roman Empire. Through Otto's alliance with the English and Philipp's with the King of France as well as the partisanship of the Pope, the dispute surrounding the German throne took on an almost pan-European dimension. Both the reign of Philipp and its accompanying official documents were marked by armed conflict, shifting alliances, and political turmoil. Just as Philipp's military and political successes had brought his eventual victory and coronation within reach, the Staufer was assassinated on June 21, 1208. This collection of the official documents of Philip of Swabia comprises a total of 216 items, of which eleven were issued by Philipp as the Duke of Tuscany and four as Duke of Swabia. 199 items can be ascribed to his reign (1198-1208), including 145 documents preserved in full text and 33 that were lost, eight letters, eight medieval forgeries, four surviving document and letter templates issued in Philipp's name, as well as two documents issued by others which he had jointly sealed. In addition, his wife Irene/Maria appears in the work as the signatory of an official document and a letter template. Durch die Bundnisse Ottos mit dem englischen und Philipps mit dem franzosischen Konig sowie die Parteinahme des Papstes erlangte der deutsche Thronstreit nahezu gesamteuropaische Dimension. Regierungszeit und Urkundenwesen Philipps waren von kriegerischen Auseinandersetzungen, wechselnden Allianzen und politischen Wirren im Reich gepragt. Als Philipps militarische und politische Erfolge seine endgultige Durchsetzung und Kaiserkronung in greifbare Nahe rucken liessen, wurde der Staufer am 21. Juni 1208 ermordet. Die vorliegende Edition der Urkunden Philipps von Schwaben umfasst insgesamt 216 Nummern, von denen Philipp elf als Herzog von Tuszien und vier als Herzog von Schwaben ausstellte. 199 Stucke sind seiner Konigszeit (1198-1208) zuzuordnen, darunter 145 im Volltext erhaltene und 33 verlorene Urkunden, acht Briefe, acht mittelalterliche Falschungen, vier unter Philipps Namen uberlieferte Musterurkunden und -briefe sowie zwei Urkunden anderer Aussteller, die er mitbesiegelte. Zudem ist seine Gemahlin Irene/Maria mit einer Urkunde und einem Musterbrief in der Edition vertreten.
