Ulrich Hofeditz provides the reader with comprehensive, detailed and up-to-date catalogue of the archaeological sites and find spots and surveys in Judea and the northern part of the Negev. The structure of the catalogue is based on the work of the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA). The "Archaeological Survey of Israel" of the IAA has divided the country in squares of 10 x 10 km, whose numerical system is used as the basic structure of the catalogue. This presentation of the results of the archaeological research of many generations of scholars will serve as the basis of future reconstructions of the history of settlement in the region.
