Die missionarischen Herausforderungen unserer Kirchen in der säkularisierten Gesellschaft

2019 the 15th joint congress in the bilateral theological dialogue between the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) and the Romanian-Orthodox Church took place in the Caraiman Monastery. The discussion was focused on the question how the churches can fulfil their mission within secularized societies. The contributions unfolded prospects for ecclesiastical agency towards shaping society and fostering personal sanctification of its members. The different views and estimations of secularization revealed the diverging denotation in the use of this term. The joint conviction was expressed, that the contemporary religious pluralism urges Churches more than ever to speak as one in order to be credible.
