Deutschtum und Judentum

This is a new and annotated edition of the book "Deutschtum und Judentum" (Germans and Jews) published in 1880 by Ludwig Bamberger (1823-1899). It includes: * A comprehensive introduction on the author, historical background, book, and edition. * Extensive notes with explanations for uncommon and obsolete words as well as persons and historical background. * Additional contemporary material referred to in the main text. In "Deutschtum und Judentum", the liberal politician Ludwig Bamberger criticizes the historian Heinrich von Treitschke (1834-1896) for aligning himself with the growing anti-Semitism in the late 1870s and early 1880s. All texts are in German. (Note: There have been several other books with the same title (e. g. by Curt B rger, Hans Rosenfeld, Hermann Cohen, etc.), but this is the book by Ludwig Bamberger.)
