Dental Notes

Disclaimer: The author of this book is Catholic and does not believe in evolution (universal common descent) due to evidence for purposeful design he has seen in anatomy, biochemistry and physiology. Somewhere in this book, he recommends prayer and, in an appendix, he explains the evidence for creation. If this does not bother you, consider purchasing this book and reviewing it despite the one-star review it has received so far. The author suspects this one-star review is due to the abovementioned facts (his recommendation of prayer to God and questioning the Theory of Evolution) since they can trigger strong emotions and reactions. Dental Notes is a collection of tips and advice based on knowledge gained from owning a successful, solo fee-for-service practice for several years. Besides giving general advice, it provides specifics in the practice of dentistry often not learned in a school setting. These tips are presented in a simple, direct form, and are comprehensive for a general dentistry practice.The clinical section describes actions the dentist can take to make different procedures more efficient, safer and less traumatic to the patient. Some of the procedures discussed are exam, different types of fixed restorative treatment, implants, removable prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics and extractions.Some of the topics discussed in the management section of the book are: dentist-patient relationship; how to hire and manage the dental staff; the duties of the hygienist, front desk person and dental assistant; how to run the dental practice in an efficient and profitable manner.
