Beskrivelse
This book tells the story of David Ben-Gurion (1886-1973), who declared the establishment of the State of Israel and served as prime minister and minister of defense for over a decade and a half, through the eyes of a loyal companion: his personal fountain pen.
The excited pen describes the ceremony of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the honor of being the literal instrument of democracy. From crisis to triumph, the pen attends meetings with world leaders, as well as witnessing family scenes.
The story leaves no doubt that Ben-Gurion was a man of his word and a man of principle, courageously making fateful decisions and causing dreams to come true. Nevertheless, when offered the Israel Prize in 1968, he declined: "Whatever I did in our land was merely the fulfillment of my civic duty."
To fulfill the vision of flowering in the wilderness, he moved with his wife to a kibbutz in the Negev desert. In the study there, he wrote thirty books and numerous articles, as well as his memoirs. Their hut is preserved to this day, inviting visitors to observe how modestly they lived.
