THE opportunity to do something outrageous and the ability to do so do not often coincide. In 1971, both the opportunity and the ability came together in what was to become BC's most controversial ballet company-Ballet Horizons.The story of Ballet Horizons, which has never been told in detail until now, has been extremely difficult for me to relate; but as the saying goes, even pigs and fishes respond to the power of inner truth, so hopefully you will believe me when I say that what follows is the truth as it unfolded at the time, tempered by many years of reflection.The company outraged so many guardians of culture, and caused such an out-pouring of wrath, and such unbecoming behaviour on all sides, that the events have been largely self-censored by all involved. Until now.
