Beskrivelse

CRK is a dismantled preacher turned poet. Recovering from depression, he navigates life's challenges. With depression behind him, thusly reborn, he's not in too bad a shape when Covid happens. Which is to say, isolation has become a way of life. It's not so bad. Not at first. With Covid, change happens suddenly and irreparably. Normal goes out the proverbial window. Reference points shift places, and news, true or fake, circulates like cyclones. Amongst a host of political upheavals is Black Lives Matter, Donald Trump and unprecedented social and economic disaster. Daily news clippings weave through the fabric of the personal plot, and are likely to resonate in the collective memory.Making sense of it-that's the challenge. Being motivated often depends on seeing the humour in things and in the adoption of a disposition towards daily inventions that engage playfully and inspire meaningfully. CRK realizes he has to be careful. Post depression, motivation is everything. Staying sane means staying motivated. His mind is catching up to who he is. It's fun finally-being himself. It's been a slow train coming.Dreams and poetry are part of it. Desiree and Dimitri are part of it. The small town of Templeton is part of it.Covid, of course, conspires against us all. If the USA has a meltdown and Civil War is revisited, Canada is vulnerable. The world is vulnerable. This is a look at the Covid world through a Canadian lens. Everything for this novel was started the day Covid-19 started; the day it was given pandemic status. This is an anti-racism novel. It is a feminist novel. I hope it makes you laugh and makes you cry. With Covid both crying and laughter have new meaning. We are, after all is said and done, isolated but together.
