Compendium of social statistics and indicators

The Compendium of Social Statistics and Indicators is a biennial publication published by the Statistics Division of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). It typically focuses on such areas as population, education, households and family, human settlements, health and economic activity. The ninth issue of the Compendium brings together information on international migration statistics in the 14 ESCWA member countries, while acknowledging that demand for accurate, up to date and policy-relevant international migration data remains largely unmet. The Compendium constitutes a survey of such data collected and estimated by other international bodies, against a regional backdrop in which migration data are both scarce and poorly circulated.
