This book takes an historical journey exploring how the Chinese understanding of the causes of disease has developed from the classical idea of demonic influences to the contemporary understanding of the Causative Factor, the Constitutional Factor and the Guardian Element. It is not intended to be a manual of Chinese medicine, but more that it would serve as a source of inspiration to fellow practitioners and students. Based on a lifetime's study of the key texts, the author believes that by sharing this knowledge and insight we promote partnership with fellow professionals, we encourage growth in our students, we empower our patients and remind ourselves that personal or professional learning is for life.
