Beskrivelse
The story is based during the post war years of Britain, when rationing was still a prominent feature of daily life and people were struggling to survive. Unfortunately for one young family living in the backstreet slums of Birmingham, their father, Reginald Tinwood, who worked at the local gasworks was a violent domestic bully who targets the youngest of three siblings. Six-year-old Jimmy is subjected to a number of severe beatings until the last leaves him close to death, having witnessed the brutal murder of his mother by his father who then disappears from the small, terraced house.
Surgeons fight to save the boy's life and one of the country's leading neuro specialists, Sir Clifford Hunter, succeeds in doing so. But the saga does not end there and during the time Reginald Tinwood turns to crime and becomes both a gangster and serial killer, his youngest son is given the opportunity to lead a very different life.
Eventually, following a number of incidents involving them both, the couple face each other again and the result is an experience with many turns and twists.
A gripping story that holds the reader's attention to the very last page.
