The correspondence in this brief collection tells of journeys, separations, fantasies, and misunderstandings experienced by the colorful Arthur Cravan, all written to his wife Mina Loy prior to his mysterious disappearance in the Gulf of Mexico. The complete and partial letters and postcards are not mere love letters but rather an introduction to a true character who embodied the worries, activities, and audacities of early 20th-century culture. Even though Mina did not love Arthur at first, it is quite apparent in the content of this book that he was completely struck by her immediately.
