Beskrivelse
Sketches, essays, projects and more from the Houston-based architect and professor
Costa Rican American architect Carlos Jim?nez (born 1959) pursues scholarship through design--integrating drawing and writing with the making of buildings and architectural spaces. In 1983, he established Houston-based Carlos Jim?nez Studio, an innovative design practice that focuses on the endurance and refinement of form and space. Jim?nez was a long-term (2001-11) jury member of the Pritzker Architecture Prize. This book is a 35-year journey through Jim?nez's career, exploring the discipline of architecture through practice and teaching, but also through writings, drawings and buildings. A curated collection of his essays, written from 1989 to the present day, reflect on outstanding cities, architects and buildings around the world: from New York to Houston, from Erik Gunnar Asplund to Luis Barrag?n, and from the Kimbell Art Museum to the Crowley House, among others.
