Called for a Purpose

The Bible states that the kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed. Though it is the smallest of seeds, when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.

Thirty years ago, a call was received. A seed was given, which was, though small, invaluable. A journey began to pursue its planting and nurturing. The Lord has guided in the process. In retrospect, how did it swell within its case, burst through some seemingly insurmountable barriers, and, eventually, take root, start to grow and become a tree?

At this 30-year mark, we celebrate a review of the woman who has walked with God to carry the seed and nurtured the seedling. We examine the cost, commitment and focus that went into the process. We stand in awe of all the divine appointments and interventions along the way. Then we stand back and look at this unique, unlikely, yet enormous tree. The emphasis is not so much on the height but on the canopy, the span of its branches, and the resulting shade. How is this possible? How did the story unfold to become this? What environment led to this, and what drove that call to its fulfilment?

This story is no longer the story of the one who received the call. The resulting branches from that seed have their story. The trunk has a voice. Even the birds nesting in it, the people sitting in its shade and the observer from the distance who has had a chance to watch, tells this ongoing story. This is a testimony of God's doing, by all, at every stage, along the way.
