How healthy are you? Chances are, the answer to that question depends on where you live. The connection between place and health has never been clearer, and in California, health disparities from one community to the next can be shockingly large. The California Health Report at www.healthycal.org examines these gaps and reports on their origins, and on how policy makers and communities are trying to change the conditions that are largely responsible for these disparities. This volume represents some of the best of that work from the past year. We hope it opens a window into people and places that don't often make the front pages or the nightly news.
