A seashell, a raincoat, a wristwatch. Salt and pepper shakers, a cosmic ray detector, a mohair cardigan, a typewriter. A postcard, a hot water bottle, a wind-up chicken, a lava lamp, a second-place rosette. 

In Calendar Vanessa Berry presents a year through 365 objects, collecting the everyday, familiar, curious, and unusual. Inspired by the 18th century French Republican calendar, in which every day was dedicated to an object, Berry set about writing her own object calendar over the course of a year, writing in real-time. Every day, she waited for an object to come to her attention; every night, she wrote its story.

Calendar is a book about tuning in to the lives of the things around us, and the powerful connections to time and memory that objects hold.
