Beskrivelse
Buddhism as a religion or philosophy of life has the extraordinary potential to provide natural wisdom for relating people to nature in sustainable, green, peaceful, and just ways. Buddhist Ecology and Environmentalism: A Source Book is compiled from an unusually detailed course syllabus (29 pages) and a very extensive bibliography (70 pages) on the subject drawn from my teaching in Anthropology at the University of Hawai`i.
A class of students is an extremely limited audience for a wealth of information that is relevant to a far larger audience. Thus, these materials are being made available to the public through this book.
Included is a brief introductory overview on Buddhist ecology and environmentalism.
This book should be most useful not only for educators and students, but for anyone interested in Buddhism, ecology, environmentalism, and nature, and whether or not they are Buddhists.
