Broken Boundary

I've mated with a human.

A beautiful, career driven, city-loving human.

I'm a shape-shifter. A wolf.

A demon-fighting, forest-running, swearing, beer-drinking wolf.

I tend to travel the hard road. Why I ever imagined my mate relationship to be any different is beyond me. But I did imagine it: that perfect pairing, like my brother and his wife. Like my Mom and Dad. I mean, in what galaxy does a wolf's mate not become an instant part of their DNA? Oh, right . . . that would be my galaxy.

Regardless of the outcome, I leave my family and follow my mate to college. To win her over. At least I try. She's attracted to me, so there's that. But is it enough?

Insecure and homesick, I jump at the opportunity to fight at an underground wolf ring. Illegal? Yes. Best choice I've ever made? Probably not.
