Brazil, the People

This work is for ages 9-14. Almost half the population of South America lives in Brazil. A melting pot of indigenous, African and European cultures, Brazil is also home to some of the poorest and some of the wealthiest people in South America. Individual spreads illustrate how Brazil was an early plantation colony of Portugal; how Brazil's indigenous peoples live today, and the different ceremonies and celebrations of the country's many people.
