Artist Aimee St. Claire is painting an outside mural on the hillside Community Church in Loch James, Virginia. The handsome new pastor, Rev. Lucas Carson, comes by dressed for gardening. Aimee mistakes him for a landscaper until a parishioner hails him as ';Pastor Luke'. Then she learns he is a widower with 11-year-old twinsAndy and Mandy.The twins come to adore Aimee and enjoy time at her home ';Painter's Pond'. Noticing how good she is with the twins, Pastor Luke invites Aimee to lead the Youth Group.Church members push Caroline Crappsey, the Senior Elder's daughter, forward as a good prospect to become Pastor Luke's wife. Caroline even warns Aimee that an artist would never make a suitable clergy wife.Aimee has her own doubts, so aside from the Youth Group, she concentrates on her painting projects. A Christmas pageant helps determine who Pastor Luke asks to marry him.
