Blackout Andy

Andy Browning likes to drink. He is good at it but not much good at anything else. He is on thin ice, both as the building manager at the apartment complex where he lives and as a security officer for the regional headquarters for CornCorp. Much of his life is spent atop a barstool at his local dive, pining for an old college sweetheart from time to time, but mostly just getting hammered.

Years ago, drunken clumsiness combined with the peculiar design of Dutch toilets led to a disgusting mishap. That could have been the wakeup call for Andy to sober up and turn his life around. It was not. Instead, he continued to make his life more of a shambles with every passing year.

But what if he had gone a different route? An unexpected head injury has opened a door to what could have been. Every time Andy drinks to blackout, he steps through that door. On the other side, he becomes a passenger in the body of the sober and successful Dr. Andrew Browning. This alter ego has invented a device that revolutionizes sewage treatment and holds the promise fighting disease around the globe.

Meanwhile, Andy's own world is falling apart around him, both in his personal circumstances and his city turned into a scatological hellscape by corporate greed. Crossing over permanently could be his ticket to the promised land if he is willing to pay the fare and accept the possibility that there may be more to Dr. Browning than meets the eye.
