PJ RenfroeSpecial Agent Jud LaSalle, speeding down Peachtree Street, spots flashing lights, recognizes the coroner's forensic van and swerves the old Porsche through traffic to a concerto of screeching brakes and honking horns to park in front of the old Mariah. Doc Conner's presence means Death has left his calling card. From between the seats, Jud grips a matte black automatic and slides it into a shoulder holster with the ease of long association. He pulls the hood of his raincoat over his head and steps from the car into stinging rain, slams the car door and sloshes across the flooded sidewalk to where Doc Conner stands beneath a small tent protecting a body sprawled on the sidewalk.
