Beachmere Revisited

In 2019, Karen Wallwork had an idea that grew into a guided walk around the seaside town of Beachmere. Who could have guessed that this simple plan would lead to the publication of  "Beachmere - Then and Now; 150 years of collective memory", and the "Back to Beachmere" Festival? Nor did Karen expect the flood of new stories and memories that would follow. Beachmere demanded a second book.

"Beachmere Revisited" is the result of this overwhelming response to Karen's passion for the town, the community, and its history. A collection of the community's memories and experiences, told in their own words, it is supported by Karen's meticulous research and documentation of Beachmere's cultural, social, industrial and commercial development.

From ANZAC heros, to Teddy Bears up to mischief; from BATS on stage to the mullet run; from indigenous traditions to European early settlers and new chums, "Beachmere Revisited" delves into the past, gathering some of the old mysteries, family reminiscences and recent experiences that make up the Collective History of a place as old as time.

Karen Wallwork lives in Beachmere, Queensland. She says this is the last Beachmere book, but no-one believes her. They still send stories, newspaper clippings and photographs!
