Andrea Bruno

L'architetto Andrea Bruno nasce a Torino nel 1931. Accanto all' insegnamento universitario, si distingue per la sua capacita visionaria, espressa anche attraverso disegni e schizzi, donando nuova vita e nuove funzioni a monumenti ed edifici sottoposti alle ingiurie del tempo o a deliberati atti distruttivi. Particolarmente legato all' Afghanistan, nel 1974 progetta l' Ambasciata d' Italia a Kabul; e inoltre Consulente UNESCO per il restauro e la conservazione del patrimonio artistico e culturale, partecipando a numerose missioni ufficiali specialmente in Medio Oriente e nel Nord-Africa. Molto piu di un carnet de voyage, i disegni di Bruno - nell' attenta selezione operata da Ettore Janulardo - sono il portato grafico dell' esperienza stessa di un architetto e sognatore militante, animata da una speranzosa e mai sopita carica etica e meditata, lungo un peregrinare che probabilmente non ha mai fine. The architect Andrea Bruno was born in Turin in 1931. Alongside his university teaching, he stands out for his visionary ability expressed through drawings and sketches, giving new life and new functions to monuments and buildings subjected to the ravages of time or deliberate destructive acts. Particularly linked to Afghanistan, in 1974 he designed the Italian Embassy in Kabul; he is also a UNESCO consultant for the restoration and conservation of the artistic and cultural heritage, participating in numerous official missions especially in the Middle East and North Africa. Much more than a carnet de voyage, Bruno's drawings (in the careful selection made here) are the graphic result of the very experience of a militant architect and dreamer, animated by a hopeful and never dormant ethical and meditated charge, along a wanderings that probably never ends.
