Amir Khusro

This book is an interrogation of the life and times of Amir Khusro. He has been an individual of interest to a multitude of historians for several years. He has come to symbolize the confluence of the Indo-Turkish cultural heritage, which later came to form the basis of the Ganga-Yamuna Tehseeb. The works of Amir Khusro range from Masnavis, which held mirrors to the contemporary social practices of the time to the Qawwalis, which reflected various levels of political commentary on the Sufi-state relations and a biting commentary on the nature of Medieval and Early Modern paradigms of power and authority.
