American Mystic follows the daring exploits of gonzo journalist James Wozynski, renowned as Jimmy Wonderful, as he embarks on his final assignment: to bear witness to the fate of magic in the world of man. In a reality where magic is tangible and interwoven with everyday life, individuals with the ability to manipulate reality through The Word are known as Namebreakers. Feared and coveted in equal measure, these wielders of The Word are viewed as genetic anomalies, regarded by many as a plague to be eradicated.

Enter Roy Altenhofen, an enigmatic billionaire who has amassed his fortune by peddling the cure for magic. Now, claiming to possess the crucial elements needed to expunge the last vestiges of magic from existence, he convenes Jimmy and a select few at his compound in the desolate Salt Flats of Utah. Their mission: to make a final plea for the preservation of all that transcends the human realm.
