Jaxton Matthews, a killer by trade, has machines spliced into his body. Usually, working for his government as an assassin. On one of the rare occasions, he is allowed home he works as a Taskforce agent cleaning up the city's streets. But all of his augmentations come at a price. Emotions dull and muted, he is nothing but a machine to most. However, Jax has a mission.

A woman went missing from his graduating class at the academy where he graduated. He modified his body to help with the search but his clues led him in circles. While visiting the city Jax comes across the woman he has been searching for and realizes she is in danger again.

Can Jax overcome his newfound urges and keep a clear head around her while he tries to keep her safe? How far is he willing to go, and where will his search for the enemy led? It just might be a little too close for comfort.
