Al-Shama'il Tijaniyya - Virtues of Shaykh al-Tijani

The present manuscript, Shama'il Tijaniyya, offers a unique and authentic account of the noble traits and personal qualities of Shaykh Ahmad al-Tijani - many of which have remained undocumented elsewhere. No other known work has addressed this subject with the clarity and objectivity found in this manuscript.

Shaykh al-Qadi Ahmad Sukayrij, was keenly aware of the pressing need for such a work. His decision to write this manuscript reflects a sincere commitment to preserving and transmitting this vital legacy.

Major Tijani sources like Jawahir al-Ma'ani, while invaluable, were unable to fully capture certain important periods of Shaykh al-Tijani's life - due to the early passing of their authors. It was this gap that inspired Shaykh Sukayrij to undertake the challenging task of continuing the work and completing the portrayal of the Shaykh's noble character.

Although this manuscript remains among Shaykh Sukayrij's unfinished writings, it stands as a testament to his scholarship and heartfelt devotion. Throughout his life, Shaykh Sukayrij revered the Shama'il of Shaykh al-Tijani, firmly believing that their transmission was among the most effective ways to elevate ethical standards among students and strengthen the bonds of spiritual brotherhood.
