Against All Evil

The adventures in this collection, although not in exact radio script format of the old-style "to be continued" cliff-hanger stories of the 1930s through '50s, were inspired by prototypical characters featured in those stories who triumphed over evil foes, including superheros like Batman and Captain Marvel.The superhero concept is illustrated in these "Against All Evil" stories by Max and Lena Manus (The Intruders, Tale of the Scorpion, Hijinks Underground). Max is a brilliant scientist, now retired, who accidentally discovered a way to activate superpower energy systems buried deep in man's genetic past. His wife, the resourceful and intrepid Lena, is a retired CIA assassin who must use her well-honed skills to help Max protect his superpower secret from evil powers that would steal it to use for their own malevolent purposes. His discovery allows them to call forth physical and mental powers far greater than those of normal humans.In Undercover Agent, a physically handicapped, homeless woman, Karla Hammer, exhibits resourcefulness and exceptional strength of character. Her intelligence, determination, and moxie allow her to overcome formidable odds and survive dangerous life-threatening situations as an FBI undercover agent. In her own way, she's as heroic as any superhero.In Jack and Storm, set in the far future, the protagonists overcome prejudice and social rejection by discovering their true natures. Capabilities that had been dormant until needed for survival allowed them to find acceptance and respect in a new world-a world of their own kind, genetically humanized wolves.
