After Pastime

A book of Russian poetry. From the back cover is this translated description from the author: "The chemist scientist Dmitry Mendeleev,

the periodic table he discovered.

The people knew him as a tactful man.

He introduced himself to students every time,

we should not ignore this tradition, either.

In rhyming text I'll try to do the same.

So here I am, Litvinova Angelina

(my name I shortened on the cover,

I didn't want to spoil it with its length)

My age announced in rhyme.

(A tiny tot I was during wartime).

And later on I studied, cured people,

and even earned an academic title...

My debt "to health" I paid to science.

My daughter, grandkids gave me.

This book to them I dedicated.

I hope they grow and have the best of luck.

These little boys give meaning to my life."
