Advisory Material for the IAEA Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material

This Safety Guide provides recommendations on proven means of achieving and demonstrating compliance with Safety Standards Series No. TS-R-1, Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material, establishing safety regulations to be applied to the national and international transport of radioactive material. The recommendations apply to all modes of transport of radioactive material, including transport which is incidental to its use. Transport is deemed to comprise all operations and conditions associated with and involved in the movement of radioactive material; these include the design, fabrication and maintenance of packaging, and the preparation, consigning, handling, carriage, storage in transit and receipt at the final destination of packages. This publication supersedes Safety Series No. 7, Explanatory Material for the IAEA Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material (1985 Edition) Second Edition (As Amended 1990), and Safety Series No. 37, Advisory Material for the IAEA Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material (1985 Edition), Third Edition (As Amended 1990).
