Acute Myocardial Infarction

The heart is the organ whose importance is related to the pumping of blood throughout the body, supplying the cells with adequate amounts of nutrients and oxygen. In order to perform this function, this organ is assisted by a set of arteries and veins responsible for its irrigation and drainage. In certain cases, a luminal narrowing of a certain coronary artery occurs, causing the blood flow to be reduced and even interrupted, which will lead to a process of tissue necrosis, characterizing AMI (Acute Myocardial Infarction). This pathology affects thousands of people around the country, presenting high mortality rates and, for this reason, it is considered the largest single cause of deaths due to health reasons in Brazil. Thus, it is essential to acquire knowledge about the forms of diagnosis, the main one being the analysis of the electrocardiogram after the observation of the clinical case, which consists of a precordial pain that radiates mainly to the left upper limb and may be accompanied by sudoresis, nausea and vomiting. After the diagnosis is confirmed, the therapeutic conduct should be emergency.
