Accuracy of rapid tests in the diagnosis of noroviruses

Noroviruses are currently the main cause of viral gastroenteritis. After an incubation period of 24 to 48 hours, symptoms such as vomiting and non-bloody diarrhoea occur. Infants and immunocompromised individuals are at increased risk of developing complications, so rapid diagnosis is crucial in order to initiate the correct treatment. This book examines the diagnostic value of commercially available rapid tests for the detection of noroviruses. The advantages of these rapid tests include time savings and the fact that they can be used at the point of care.
