Beskrivelse

Heddy Lowe find herself in an unorthodox but companionable relationship with her new dog, a Border Collie named Lambert who has aspirations of leaving the sheep farm behind for a more refined yet loving lifestyle suitable to a dog of his inherent high bred manner. He sets about in true herding dog fashion to bring in a cast of characters that will turn Heddy's reclusive artist life into a comic drama of romance and mayhem, involving a mystic horse named Thomas Jefferson, two bone idyll cats, and a hypochondriac Pug named Jack. The story uses two first person narrators: Heddy who muses over failed relationships, the sudden influx of people in her routine, and the good fortune of being paid well for expressing herself on canvas; and Lambert, the second narrator, plods through his days as the ever helpful companion to his new "Mom", who he feels doesn't possess the wherewithal to handle her own affairs of the heart so he sets about arranging them for her. The story brings to light a dog can also be a woman's best friend.
