A Vindication of the Rights of Woman

Although A Vindication of the Rights of Woman was written primarily as a response to Edmund Burke's Reflections on the Revolution in France, it also made a solid and early case for women's equality. One of the points the book makes most fervently is the need for young women to be adequately educated in order to fully participate in society--so they would have power over themselves. The book became a foundational work in the area of human rights.
