A Tour of Honolulu in the Early 1840's

The reminiscenses of prominent Hawaii businessman and historian Gorham D. Gilman, street by street, reprinted in its entirety from "Streets of Honolulu in the Early Forties" first published by Thrum's Hawaiian Almanac and Annual for 1904.

Additional historical sketches and photographs have been added, along with other writings of Gilman about his time in Honolulu in the early 1840's, along with a brief biography.

This is the first comprehensive view of early Honolulu which showcases early businesses, buildings, and many of the people who helped Honolulu transition from a sleepy fishing village into the Crossroads of the Pacific.
