Riding a noisy, crowded bus to a TV factory, with her baby daughter in tow at the onsite daycare, she confronted the challenges of being a teen mother.

The responsibility of motherhood drove her determination to be strong and successful for her daughter-a beautiful little girl who looked up to her for guidance and strength. As her family grew to include a son, she remained committed to being the best version of herself for her children. In 1997, a pivotal opportunity arose: the chance to legally migrate to the United States with her daughter. Embracing this change, she capitalized on every opportunity to build a better future.

Her journey in the U.S. began with working in the fields and cleaning farmers' houses. Determined to improve her situation, she dedicated herself to learning English and securing more formal employment. Eventually, her persistence paid off, leading to work as a waitress and a truck stop cashier. In 2001, her path took a significant turn when she became a teaching assistant in a kindergarten class and began driving a school bus.

Over the next twenty-six years, she transformed her initial challenges into a flourishing career in education leadership, earning a doctorate and raising two adult children who contribute positively to the world. Together with her husband, she embarked on this journey in November 1998, starting with little more than a purple 1978 Chevy truck and a box of dishes from her mother-in-law.
