A Comprehensive Companion to Indian Writing in English

This book began with a question-a quiet but persistent question that echoed through classrooms, literary discussions, and years of academic engagement: Why is there no single, comprehensive volume that presents the full scope of Indian Writing in English? In answering that question, I found myself not merely compiling texts, but constructing a narrative, a framework, and a critical vision for how this field could be studied, taught, and deeply understood.

This work was born in solitude but shaped by the voices that have echoed in my teaching journey-students asking sharp questions, mentors suggesting forgotten texts, and peers who reminded me that scholarship is a collective act. Every chapter here carries within it not just information, but intention: to invite dialogue, to encourage further reading, and to reclaim Indian Writing in English as a field that deserves both rigorous scholarship and emotional engagement.
