What does it take to create an urban legend?



In every corner of the world, there exists regional folklore and mythology that refuses to fade from the cultural zeitgeist. Whether the stories from a given location center around haunted asylums on the outskirts of major cities, creatures that live in nearby woods, or ghosts that haunt desolate stretches of road, the tales often share a common and convenient characteristic; no one who spreads these stories has ever visited these places themselves, seen these supposed cryptids with their own eyes, or witnessed any paranormal happenings personally.



Well, usually no one.



The Showers - Dylan Sindelar's harrowing debut novella - follows Jack, a proud connoisseur of local legends and scary stories, across several decades of his life as he learns the horrifying story behind the titular Nebraskan locale, becomes obsessed with its mysteries, and inevitably seeks the truth for himself.



The Showers allows readers to experience Jack's tale from an intimate, first-person perspective and gives audiences the chance to confront their own demons as the characters struggle against a deeply disturbing force that they may never be able to fully comprehend.



What starts as a simple campfire story evolves into an emotional journey that grapples with issues such as mental illness, abusive relationships, addiction, generational trauma, and more.
